About KateI graduated in May 2017 with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse, NY. Following graduation I interned at Whitham Planning and Design in Ithaca, NY for the summer. I am currently working as a Landscape Architect at Freeman Companies, a multidisciplinary engineering firm in Hartford, CT, where I manage and collaborate on large and small scale projects from schematic design to construction documents.
During my time at ESF, I lived in Berlin, Germany for three months working on a thesis project on the city's green space network. See more about this semester under the Landscape Architecture tab above. The summer prior to my Berlin trip I was an intern at Polly Hill Arboretum in Martha's Vineyard and the previous two summers I worked at a locally owned Garden Center in Liverpool, NY. I value the experiences I've had traveling and working in the landscape and try to continuously explore the connection between landscape architecture, plants, and people. I am passionate about the environment and about reactivating public space in cities. A closer connection between people, and between people and the natural world, can provide health benefits, educational opportunities, and environmental benefits. In my free time, I enjoy making everything from jewelry to food to flower arrangements. I love photography and all types of organic gardening. See an overview of my work in my portfolio posted below, or download my resume and portfolio from the buttons to the left. An in-depth view of each project in my portfolio can be found under the landscape architecture tab above. |
